Russian Tsars
The Russian Clergy of the 1800's and 1900's, their lives were like living in the middle class. They were forbidden some things and allowed to do others. Examples being they were not allowed to eat meat or drink alcohol. They performed religious services. They were divided into two groups of the monks. Some wore white robes and the others wore dark robes. Monk's sons would have to get their degree. They also had to wear beards and long hair if you were a village priest. At times it was hard to live as a priest because they lived in little wooden huts with their families like the peasants did. They were paid a low salary also.
